MIDDLEWICH - KEY TO THE NORTHERN POWERHOUSE?

'One immensely effective way in which the impact of the Northern Powerhouse could be widely realised would be the reopening of Middlewich railway station to passengers—a campaign that thousands of residents of Middlewich have supported for many years.

That would open up rail access directly from Crewe, right through Cheshire and into Manchester, and relieve pressure on the M6.

It also has the support of many surrounding constituency MPs.

I urge Ministers to look into that and to revert back to me with their considerations.'

Fiona Bruce MP, House Of Commons, 13th July 2015

  1. Noticing all the new housing & industrial estates being built, Middlewich has expanded a great deal since Middlewich Station closed. It deserves to be opened again. Many people haven't got cars or can't afford cars. Travel is easier by train too. (Makes to going easy & the coming back.)

  2. Absolutely, Anon. And those who DO have cars are crying out for a chance to leave them at home or drive just the short distance to the railway station instead of all the way to Manchester. Our research shows that many professional people working in Manchester live within a short distance of the proposed station. It's all a no-brainer, really!
