Our masthead for July 2016 features one of those 'once in a lifetime' photos as a double rainbow over Middlewich is captured by Jennifer Jane Snelson.
A typical English summer evening, the 1st of July, and the usual combination of driving rain and sunny intervals brought the familiar phenomenon about.
Jennifer Jane was in the right place at the right time and managed to capture the rainbows arching over the Parish Church in the leaden Middlewich skies, while evening sunshine bathes the town centre in light.
I think it is a disgrace that no mention of, or pictures of public in attendance of the Remembrance of the Somme, that took place at the town Cenotaph. Or have I missed something!!!
ReplyDeleteYou have indeed 'missed something'. We publicised the town's commemoration of the anniversary on the Middlewich Diary on the 30th June. It goes without saying that you are entitled to your (anonymous) opinion but I hardly think that the fact that we have not published any pictures of the public in attendance at this event constitutes a 'disgrace'. As you may know, we welcome photographs and articles from members of the public and do our best to publish as many as we possibly can but we have not, to date, received any of this moving event. The Middlewich Diary is run on an entirely voluntary basis and relies to a great extent on the goodwill of the people of the town. If you have pictures of people at the commemoration we would be pleased to publish them, with the usual due acknowledgments -Ed.
